Internship Opportunities at Entercom Richmond

Entercom Richmond is looking for interns! We are offering interns the chance to apply classroom theory to practical experience. Our internships allow students to experience firsthand the reality of working in the radio broadcasting industry. With seven diverse brands that encompass Alternative Rock, Top 40, Adult Contemporary, Country, Hip-Hop and R&B, News/Talk and Sports, Entercom Richmond has something for everyone. So if you consider yourself an outgoing and friendly self starter and are looking for an internship that will keep you on your toes, apply for an internship with Entercom Richmond! Internships are available year-round, and are 12-15 hours per week, with specific days and times agreed upon in advance. Entercom Richmond will assist students with the completion of such forms and provide information concerning duties and responsibilities. Internships are available for WRXL-FM, WRXL-HD2, WRVQ-FM, WBTJ-FM, WTVR-FM, WRNL-AM, and WRVAAM in the following departments: Promotions, Programming, and Sales. INTERNS ARE NONPAID POSITIONS. Interns MUST be receiving course credit from a community college or university.

Internship Descriptions:

Promotions Department: All Stations

This internship is designed for students interested in the marketing/event planning side of radio. Assist with the planning, coordination and executing of major station events, in addition to station sponsored street stops, concerts, movie screenings, and live broadcast remotes. Assist with setting up station’s area, hang banners, organize demo-sampling or giveaways, take pictures, and interact with listeners. Learn the strategies of a major market radio station as well as various office duties.

Programming Department: All Stations

This internship is designed for students interested in the on-air and production side of radio. Assist on-air personalities during air-shifts, learn broadcasting console operation, help research and create on-air content, answer phone lines, record commercial spots and program material, organize broadcast elements. Learn the internal operations of a major market radio station.

Sales: All Stations

This internship is designed for students interested in the sales/marketing side of radio station operations. Practical knowledge will be gained in all aspects of the sales cycle, from prospecting for new business to converting prospects into clients. Intern will also become familiar with specific tasks that are part of an Account Executive’s responsibilities, including: how to research the Nielsen ratings for each station; how advertising contracts are processed; how to write promotional and sales proposals; and how to create radio copy. Intern will attend sales meetings, marketing training and sales calls.
